Pumpkin Spice Protein Shake

As we officially enter #SpookySzn, I decided to get right to it and create an easy and delicious pumpkin-themed smoothie that doubled as a protein shake. Not only is this pumpkin spice protein shake recipe super delicious, but it's full of nutritious ingredients and is easily customized for specific tastes, moods, etc.

I promised that I would always deliver recipes that were simple to make and packed with good ingredients. I also promised that they would be easy to make with what you have—and this protein shake is no different.

Of course, I'm going to recommend you make it my way, but you can easily do this with fewer spices or with a protein powder you already have on hand.

However, to taste exactly what I'm tasting (and get all the benefits that I am), you'd have to use the protein powder I used because it's one of a kind and definitely contributes to how this shake came out.

Just keep that in mind. On to the recipe!

How To Make The High Protein Pumpkin Smoothie

To create the ultimate fall-flavored smoothie, I used Vanilla Chai LYFEfuel protein powder.

The chai flavor truly takes this quick and easy smoothie recipe to the next level.

Seriously, you must try. But, if you're working with what ya got (totally understand that), a regular vanilla protein will do the trick.

For the pumpkin flavor, I used a real pure pumpkin puree. Can't beat the real thing!

Pumpkin does have a good nutritional profile, with the highlights being:

  • vitamin C

  • vitamin E

  • iron

  • potassium

Overall, pumpkin is just really good for the body. It's good for the immune system thanks to the vitamins and even has anti-inflammatory properties that help your skin and your heart.

I want to use this as an opportunity to point out that flavored protein powder isn't the same thing as the real thing. While that might be obvious, I mean to say that it not only won't have these powerful benefits, but it may contain unnecessary amounts of sugars and who knows what to recreate the pumpkin flavor.

That's why vanilla or chocolate protein powder is the way to go—add additional flavors in other ways like this recipe with real whole foods and spices.

For the pure, I used Libby's which is a good quality brand and at most local groceries. This canned pure has all the good stuff I mentioned, with a surprising amount of nutrients, including Vitamins A and C, antioxidants, potassium, and fiber.

Flavoring this smoothie only adds more nutrients, with pumpkin pie spices (or the make your own kind like I decided to do), maple syrup, and a banana. For consistency, I used almond milk (but any kind will do) and ice.

By the way, this quick smoothie uses all-natural ingredients and can easily fit into vegan and paleo diets.

Pumpkin Spice Protein Shake Recipe

Here's the actual recipe that you should follow to create this delicious and healthy high protein pumpkins spice smoothie:

  • 1 scoop LYFEfuel vanilla chai protein powder

  • 2 shakes of ground ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg (a pumpkin pie spice mix should work if you have it)

  • 1/4 cup pumpkin puree (Libby's)

  • 1/2 cup milk of choice (unsweetened)

  • 1/2 tbsp pure maple syrup

  • 1/2 cup ice

  • 1 1/2 small banana (can be frozen)

Optional toppings: walnuts, pumpkin seeds // try fruit, granola

ENJOY!

The pumpkin spice smoothie recipe as is makes about 1 mason jar, so double the recipe to share with a fellow fall-loving friend.

Why I Use LyfeFuel Protein

LYFEfuel protein powder is one of my favorite powders to use by itself and in recipes. I first used their Daily Essentials Shake, which then drew into other parts of their superfoods product line, specifically the protein powder I used for this pumpkin spice smoothie recipe.

Not only is the flavor just so good, it really rises to the top of being one of the most complete protein powders out there. What's inside?

  • 25 real whole foods

  • 25g of plant-based protein

  • Maca, Zinc, Magnesium, D3

  • 5g of carbs

They have managed to blend a bunch of amazing ingredients into one scoop of protein powder—from kale to pomegranates—making it a complete source of protein that is great for recovery after hard workouts.

That's why it's one of my favs, but it's also great in general because of the superfoods it offers. We can't get everything we might need all the time. LYFEfuel takes some of that work away from you and fills in the gaps easily.

Using LYFEfuel is different than average protein powders and really helps with:

  • feeling more recovered

  • feeling full and satisfied

  • building lean muscle

  • improving long-term endurance and performance

  • immunity-boosting and anti-inflammatory thanks to additional whole food ingredients

Like I said, you can use any protein powder you have on hand for this delicious pumpkin spice protein shake, but I had to tell you why I use LYFEfuel in this recipe (the chai flavor is so good) and use it as one of my main protein powders in general.
