Pumpkin Spice Chai Protein Smoothie

As we officially enter #SpookySzn, I decided to get right to it and create an easy and delicious pumpkin-themed smoothie that doubled as a protein shake. Not only is the result super delicious (seriously, its like a dessert), but it's full of nutritious ingredients and is easily customized for specific tastes, moods, etc.

This quick smoothie uses all natural ingredients and can easily fit into vegan and paleo diets!

To create the ultimate fall-flavored smoothie, I used Vanilla Chai LYFEfuel protein powder. The chai flavor truly takes this quick and easy smoothie recipe to the next level. Seriously, you must try. But, if you're working with what ya got (totally understand that), a regular vanilla plant-based protein will do the trick.

Pure pumpkin puree, (I used Libby's which is a good quality brand and at most local groceries), has a surprising amount of nutrients, including Vitamins A and C, antioxidants, potassium, and fiber. Flavoring this smoothie only adds more nutrients, with pumpkin pie spices (or the make your own kind like I decided to do), maple syrup, and a banana. For consistency I used almond milk (but any kind will do) and ice.

-1 scoop LYFEfuel vanilla chai protein powder

-2 shakes ground ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg (a pumpkin pie spice mix should work if you have it)

-1/4 cup pumpkin puree (Libby's)

-1/2 cup milk of choice (unsweetened)

-1/2 tbsp pure maple syrup

-1/2 cup ice

-1 1/2 small banana (can be frozen)

optional toppings: walnuts, pumpkin seeds // try fruit, granola

ENJOY! It makes about 1 mason jar, so double the recipe to share with a fellow fall loving friend. Let me know if you like it or which ways you customize it so I can try those too... we've got a long season ahead of us and I'm ready for it.
